-- E-Commerce Site Delivers New Komen for the Cure apparel, gifts and educational items --
DALLAS - July 1, 2009 - A leading professional sports' on-line retailer is teaming up with
Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's leading breast cancer organization, to offer
ShopKomen.com, a new Web site with redesigned and existing "pink products" that support
breast cancer research and outreach worldwide.
ShopKomen.com is a partnership between MainGate, Inc., which manages merchandise
programs for professional sports franchises including NFL, NBA, NHL, the National Hot Rod
Association (NHRA) and the IndyCar series, and Komen for the Cure. The new site features
newly redesigned apparel, gifts and educational material to support breast cancer programs.
Beginning July 1, visitors can browse more than 300 products including athletic wear and
apparel for men, women and children, jewelry, office items, educational materials, magnets and
key chains. All of the items feature Komen's iconic running pink ribbon. At least 25 percent of
sales on the new site will go to Komen to help support more than $1.3 billion in research and
community programs funded to date by Komen.
"With new merchandise and a heightened level of service, ShopKomen.com allows those
touched by breast cancer to contribute to research and support programs in a tangible way,'
said Katrina McGhee, vice president, global partnerships at Komen. 'This helps us continue our
life-saving work in hundreds of communities all around the world."
In addition to managing the e-commerce site, MainGate will oversee onsite sales at Komen
events such as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® series. Additionally, MainGate will
continue to work with Komen to feature breast health messages through the merchandise
program on both the Web site and all fulfillment pieces, helping to educate all who visit
ShopKomen.com.
"The entire MainGate team has been inspired by our partnership with Susan G. Komen for the
Cure," said David Moroknek, president & CEO of MainGate. "Working together with their team,
we are excited to share Komen's powerful message through this new integrated merchandise
program."
About Susan G. Komen for the Cure®
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her
power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the
Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the
world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save
lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures.
Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested more than $1.3 billion to
fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight
against breast cancer in the world. For more information about Susan G. Komen for the Cure,
